Grannyfist – Double Penetration

Just noticed that Grannyfist have made their classic Double Penetration album from 2010 available for free download on soundcloud for a limited time only. This is the best album to come out of Newcastle since Frogstomp! You’ll have to buy the CD to get the great album art though.

Cuddle Party 3

Coming up in Newcastle on Sunday July 18 is the third event in the Cuddle Party series, an all day festival of fun music and good times, presented by Monstera Deliciosa, Lesstalk Records and ARThive.

This time around we’re featuring a diverse selection of local and interstate talent including Scalps, Caviar, Penguins, Melodies, Jess Locke, Grannyfist, Tearjerker, Quiet The Few, Stitched Vision, Mushroom Family, Mannheim Rocket, and Troopin’ Kerry Alpacas, so there’s definitely a bit of something for everybody in that lineup.

Entry is by donation, with money being raised to support the ARThive gallery. It all starts around 12pm and all nice people are welcome.

The Clap launch new EP at Wickham Park Hotel

We haven’t featured The Clap here before, which is unfortunate as we love them and they are one of the raddest bands in Newcastle. A piss funny rock band featuring members of Grannyfist and BLOCK [], they’re launching a new EP titled The Clap From Clap City on May 1st at Wickham Park Hotel with Elephant and Glory Meat supporting.
Check out the video for Che Guevara T-Shirt Wearer.

Michael Crafter East Coast Tour

Supporting their new D.Y Or Die EP, nice guy power-punk duo Michael Crafter are touring Australia’s East Coast in April and May. Of course you should know that this band includes Matheson Vaughn from Anal Discharge, so things are bound to get a little bit hairy.

This Is Not Part 3

This Is Not Art is coming up, and there is always heaps of awesome unofficial programming happening around town as well, so once again, the fine folks at the Noise Machine label are presenting This Is Not Part! This year the event has moved venues to The Croatian Wickham Sports Club, so hopefully we can avoid the fistfights and bad blood of last year. There’s a diverse mix of bands ranging from the pounding distorto-breakcore of Drillbit, the psychedelic space grunge of Go Genre Everything, the posi power violence of Michael Crafter, the whaley drone pop of Alps Of New South Wales, and the multi headed noise beast Rotted Crow who only ever play wheelchair accessible shows and will perform as the house band on the Friday Night.
It’s happening over two nights, with both shows starting  at 7pm.
