An Afternoon at Serial Space

Say goodbye to Aktion Unit with a great afternoon rock show this Sunday at Serial Space in Sydney.

Aktion Unit, one of Melbourne’s more dynamic improvising noise rock groups, has returned after a mid-year tour in 2008 which included the establishment of the riotous Static Age Festival at Marrickville warehouse Dirty Shirlows. Drawing primarily from rock instruments and whatever sound sources that contact mics can be attached to, Aktion Unit have formed a reputation for mindless chaos that is only trumped by the lengthy ambient pieces that frequently interrupt more boisterous sets. For this show, the three piece will by joined by by True Radical Miracle bassist and Sabbatical Records head Leith Thomas and Crab Smasher drummer Marnie Elizabeth Vaughn.

In support is American ex-Pat Melbournian artist and musician Grant Gronewold, making Wu-Tang Clan inspired lo-fi songs as Cougar Flashy, Brisbane sludge duo No Anchor, Sydney-based laptop guitarist Scissor Lock, and the long awaited return of Young Lions, the piano-based songwriting project of Lizzie Nagy.
