Pop Singles play Newcastle as part of their 2012 LP Launch tour this Thursday night August 16 at Terrace Bar with special guests Housewives, Polyfox And The Union Of The Most Ghosts, and Hell Setzer.
ALL GONE is the much anticipated debut LP by Melbourne based trio Pop Singles. The band draw similarities with the melodic post punk of the 1980’s (The Triffids, Husker Du, Sad Lovers & Giants), as well as inspiration from local pop luminaries Popolice and Dane Certificate. The production of ALL GONE is assured and composed, encompassing the polished sound of the groups earlier EP and 7″ with the jangly, raw feel of their cassette releases and live shows. A record revealing inner tension, hope and hopelessness: Pop Singles have made a relatable and affecting debut.
“Awesome Cock safari set at the Pharmacy, Newcastle Australia.
Contains some of the show’s original footage with other footage taken from the pharmacy that day tacked onto the start. The reason I did this is because I filmed this on my phone and my phone footage is mega shit when taken in the dark, so rather than upload an ‘unidentifiable things moving slightly in the dark’ video, I decided to add ‘identifiable things moving backwards and forwards in the light’ to alleviate the visual monotony of black nothingness.” – Nicholas French, 31st July 2012
The Gooch Palms – upbeat semi-nude garage/powerpop
Polyfox – loose, jangly guitar-pop
Amateur Drunks – smiley pop-punk!
Thursday 31 May at Emma Soup, 523 Hunter St Newcastle
$5 Entry – all proceeds from the door go towards the fundraising campaign for The Terrace Bar, which is opening next door to Emma Soup.
Cock Safari and Polyfox have teamed up together for a new cassette titled Happy Valentines. It’s out through now through Grog Pappy so email grogpappy(at)gmail.com to get yours. Here is what you might expect.
Cock ‘n Fox play all the different pieces of equipment they can find in a 3×5 meter room with a ditty of a duet at the end of the cassette
